Video Special FX Software?

Does anyone know of any good, and preferably free, special fx software that will work with Final Cut Express. By special fx, I mean like fireballs, particles, and lightsabers. Please also, don’t say Adobe After Effects because I really don’t like their intereface.

Haha, I was going to say After Effects. sorry
Thats the only GOOD one I know of. U can just Google it though and find something free. Normally ‘free’ really sucks though
